UPS refers to the "insured value" as the "declared value".
For shipments without a declared value, UPS' maximum liability is $100 for damages or losses at no cost. However, you can declare a higher value and purchase additional insurance with our insurance provider, Shipsurance.
For shipments without a declared value, UPS' maximum default liability is $100 for damages or losses at no cost. However, you can declare a higher value through UPS by choosing the Declared Value option in the READY TO SHIP page to insure a higher amount through UPS for your packages. This will increase the cost of your shipment -the Fees line in the shipment rate quote will reflect the UPS estimate for the Declared Value coverage.
Note: For multi-box shipments, the UPS Declared Value is applied to each box in the shipment. Example: if you specify $150 as the Declared Value and there are three boxes in the shipment, then the declared value for each of those boxes is $150, not $50 per box.
Declared Value: Fed Ex & UPS
- Declared value is not insurance coverage. The declared value of a package represents the maximum liability for the package in the case of loss or damage.
- Shippers sending goods with values exceeding $100 can choose to declare a higher value for the goods, up to certain maximum amounts and subject to restrictions, by paying an additional charge. See the screenshot below for UPS examples:
Pickup
They were charging $25 per week for daily pickup
When we get a lot of oders we can turn on SmartPickup which will happen when we print a UPS label - there is a $11 charge
