What are some of the differences between my account and a dedicated Linux server?

Your VPS account is designed with the goal to emulate the behavior of a dedicated Linux server in a shared virtual environment. Because of this, your account will operate and function as a dedicated Linux server does. One of the key limitations of your account is that, because of the shared environment, the VPS account root user does not have the ability to modify kernel or hardware-related configurations. It is significant to note, however, that any of the system files not specifically changed by the VPS account administrator will continue to be maintained and updated by our staff. While many of the utilities are extended to your VPS account, the multi-user environment makes application management slightly different.

Should your project require more preformance than is provided by our VPS accounts or the administration capabilities not available in a VPS account, we offer several dedicated Linux server accounts  with increasing levels of perfromance to supply even the most demanding applications.
